An early ordering guide has revealed pricing for the 2025 Cadillac Optique. The crossover will join the Lyriq lineup as Cadillac’s entry-level battery electric vehicle. Unveiled in May, the car will start at about $54,000 and come standard with dual-motor all-wheel drive, the automaker said. The initial figures, excluding a $1,495 delivery charge, are based on four trims and their respective MSRPs.
Luxury 1: $54,390 Sport 1: $54,990 Luxury 2: $56,590 Sport 2: $57,090
Every Optik has an 85kWh battery that powers a motor that produces 300 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. It has an estimated range of 300 miles on a full charge. Cadillac hasn’t yet announced the maximum charging speed, but says a 10-minute plug-in to the DC juicer will get you about 79 miles of range.
Those who keep track of Lyriq prices might think that the Optiq is surprisingly close in price to its big brother. The entry-level Tech trim of the 2024 Lyriq starts at $58,590 including delivery, a difference of $4,200. According to the Lyriq ordering guide, the Tech trim will be discontinued in 2025. The Lyriq Luxury 1 trim will be the entry-level next year, starting at $59,990 including delivery. Assuming this is what you see on the window sticker later this year, the 2025 Lyriq will be $1,400 more expensive compared to the 2024 and $5,600 more expensive than the Optiq Luxury 1. However, the base Lyriq is rear-wheel drive. The 2025 Lyriq Luxury 1 AWD starts at $63,490, a $9,100 increase over the base Optiq. Also, the Lyriq’s price is calculated with a destination charge of $1,395, which is $100 less than the Optiq’s shipping charge, so don’t be surprised if the final difference is even larger. I expect this difference to change.
Cadillac says buyers will be able to claim the full $7,500 tax credit once the Optiq begins production at GM’s Ramos Arizpe plant in Mexico. The more affordable trims will be available later, so if you’re looking to buy one before the year end, be prepared to shell out big bucks for the Luxury 2 and Sport 2 grades.
The Optiq doesn’t sacrifice brand pillars for a cheaper price. It’s clearly premium, and just like the Lyriq, owners are greeted with an illuminated black crystal grille. There are flush door handles and layered-glass rear quarter-panel windows with a pattern reminiscent of Cadillac’s Mondrian-style coat of arms along the sides. At the back, a vertical light bar surrounds the backlighting, and there’s another light bar on the lower liftgate. There’s no rear window wiper, but there are spoilers above and below the glass.
Inside, most of the dashboard is taken up by a 33-inch LED display with 9K resolution that serves as both the infotainment and instrument panel. It features Google built-in technology, with Google Assistant and Google Maps integration (Apple CarPlay is no longer available, but a separate iPhone app is embedded into the Google built-in system). A light bar above the wheel displays information from the standard Super Cruise hands-free highway driving assist. Music is played through the standard AKG audio system with 19 speakers and Dolby Atmos support.
The cantilevered center console is covered in a fabric woven from recycled yarns that is used throughout the cabin. The interior’s “PaperWood” veneer is made from tulipwood and recycled newspapers. There are numerous open (and softly lit) storage spaces throughout, all lined with “Tide,” a soft-touch nonwoven fabric made from recycled materials. In terms of space, the floor feels a little high (not uncommon in most EVs where the battery is under the floor), and legroom is adequate in both rows, although headroom in the second row is a bit tight. Behind the second row, there’s a generous 26 cubic feet of cargo space for the segment, with additional storage space under the cargo floor. Folding the second row expands cargo volume to 57 cubic feet.
Every Optiq also comes with a full complement of safety features, including forward pedestrian and cyclist braking, reverse automatic braking, automatic high beams, blind zone steering assist and rear cross-traffic braking.
