Gone are the days of sitting in a creaky vinyl chair in a doctor’s waiting room in front of a faux-wood coffee table piled high with old magazines. People want more, and they’re willing to pay for it. Medical spas have been at the forefront of healthcare design, but Livv Natural, a combination members’ club, medical spa, and wellness facility in San Diego, is raising the bar to unparalleled heights.

Founded by Dr. Jason Phan, Livv is more than just a members-only club or IV lounge; his goal is to create a “Soho wellness house.” The brand’s latest flagship is housed in a building with a stunning marble façade designed by Julian Albertini of Asthetique Group, best known for his hospitality and residential projects both locally and internationally. “Julian’s creative eye, unique style and forward-thinking made him the perfect designer for LIVV,” said Dr. Phan.
The flagship store in Cardiff is expected to open in fall 2024, with construction costs estimated at $3 million.

While Livv’s first store was a converted 1922 coffee shop in the heart of Little Italy, the Cardiff location has a more modern, upscale feel. “We’ve converted an old post office that was once the heart of the community, a place where people connected to the world and the world connected to them. Now it’s a natural, healthy destination, and we chose to paint it our signature organic green, in line with the whole Livv brand, which serves to further cement the building’s position in the neighbourhood,” explains Albertini.
It’s a chic spot where members can relax and socialize.

The space will also allow Livv to expand its services: “The new location offers a more expansive and sophisticated experience, including multiple treatment rooms, a spa element with cold plunge, sauna, massage room and aesthetic room, as well as a unique IV lounge. This upgrade adds even more comfort and sophistication, setting a new standard for our services,” said Dr. Phan.

Livv offers a range of services, including infusion therapy, peptides, ozone therapy, hormone treatments, Botox, fillers, laser treatments and cosmetic treatments such as PRP. “We chose finishes and designs that exude sexy, luxurious tranquility. Our vision was to create an upscale space where natural elements and the play of light would transport you away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life,” says Phan. “By incorporating bespoke pieces imported from Bali, we imbued the space with a unique, artisanal touch that accentuates modern elegance and coziness. Attention to detail is evident in the curved walls and carefully selected materials, all designed to provide a serene escape and enhance the overall experience.”

There is also an infrared sauna and cold water bath, which Phan encourages members to combine as a form of contrast therapy: “Having an infrared sauna with direct access to a cold water bath provides true detoxification and maximizes longevity and healing.”
