LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A rape suspect on the run from Massachusetts was reportedly spotted on a luxury tentpole boat docked at a Wilmington marina before being pursued by police in Los Angeles.
Stephen Paul Gale, 71, was wanted in connection with the 1989 rapes of two women near Boston.
When police approached the scene on Aug. 8, Gayle was spotted aboard a yacht named “Dior” that was docked at Seacoast Yachts, according to WCVB-TV.
Police believe Gayle felt he was being watched when he got into an SUV and fled, leading to a lengthy police pursuit. Gayle was taken into custody near the UCLA Medical District.

A man implicated in the 1989 rape of two Boston-area women has been captured after an hours-long police chase in Los Angeles.
Gale is accused of robbing the store in Framingham, about 20 miles west of Boston, and sexually assaulting two female employees at gunpoint just two days after Christmas in 1989. Investigators were able to positively identify Gale as the suspect through DNA testing.
Authorities said information about Gayle was spread across the country and a $5,000 reward was offered for information leading to an arrest.
Investigators also said he had past ties to organized crime.
