Camping and fishing equipment
Average discount: 17% off
If you’re looking to buy camping or fishing gear, the next few weeks are a great time to do so. Prices for these items often skyrocket in the summer due to high demand, but with the season drawing to a close, retailers are eager to clear out inventory. RetailMeNot recommends heading to Academy Sports + Outdoors, Bass Pro Shops, and Cabela’s to peruse sales in these departments.
Back to school and office supplies
Average discount: 17% off
Back-to-school season is upon us, and if you haven’t stocked up on all the essential office supplies (pens, notebooks, maybe even a printer), head to Office Depot, Staples, CVS, or Target, where we at RetailMeNot have found some solid savings opportunities.
Autumn clothes
Average discount: 19% off If you live in an area that experiences extreme heat, buying warm fall clothes might not be the last thing you think about. But if you’re looking to save money, now’s the perfect time to stock up on these essentials. RetailMeNot recommends checking out sales at Forever 21, maurices, Carter’s, and Disney Store for great deals.
Computers and Electronics
If you’re looking to upgrade your tablet, buy a new laptop or get some headphones, the rest of August is a great time to shop (as long as you don’t plan on waiting until Black Friday). Stop by Apple, Best Buy, LG, Lenovo and Samsung to get great deals on these items.

Warm weather shoes
Average discount: 22% off
You might want to hit the pause button on buying the best boots and other footwear for fall and winter, as there aren’t many amazing sales on offer. But if you’re interested in sandals or slides, act now while some retailers are running clearance sales on these items. RetailMeNot recommends seeing what discounts Nike, adidas, Reebok, and PUMA are offering.
