If you drive through the middle of Cape Coral, you’ll see the Commercial Plaza sign at 900 SW Pine Island Road down. It’s hard to miss. NBC2 asked nearby businesses what happened. They say the sign fell almost two years ago during Hurricane Ian. Not only is the sign an eyesore, it’s also hurting small businesses. “It’s annoying because we have a lot of people calling, and they can’t find the location because there’s no other sign with our name on it. It would help if the sign was back up,” said Peter Edjisiako, a phone technician for Batteries + Bulbs. According to property records, the plaza is managed by Five Diamonds Management. When NBC2 called them, they said they would call back with more information. We also contacted the City of Cape Coral to ask if anyone had applied for a permit to replace the plaza sign, and they were told there were no records to show that anyone had applied.
