Separate Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip have killed two media workers, including an Al Jazeera journalist.
Journalist Hosam Shabbat, who worked for Al Jazeera Mbasher, was killed in northern Gaza on Monday. Witnesses told the network that his car was targeted in the eastern part of Beit Rahiya.
Tarek Abu Azum, 23, of Al Jazeera, a report from Deia El Bala in central Gaza, said he had been injured earlier in another Israeli attack in Gaza.
“The Israeli army targeted his car,” Abu Azum said without giving a “advance warning.”
Shabbat’s colleague shared his final words:
In a pre-written X post by Shabat, he wrote:
Shabbat writes that for the last 18 months of the war he has dedicated “every moment” to his people.
“I decided to record just a portion of the horrors of northern Gaza and show the world the truth they were trying to fill. I slept on the pavement, on schools, on tents. Every day was a battle to survive.
“I now ask you: don’t stop talking about Gaza,” Shabbat added. “Don’t let us see the world. Keep fighting and telling our stories until Palestine is free.”
This is Hossam’s team and shares his final message.
“If you’re reading this, it means I was killed by the Israeli occupation forces – probably targeted. I was 21 years old when this all began.

Earlier on Monday, Israeli attacks on Khan Eunice in southern Gaza also killed Mohammad Mansour, a journalist who worked in Palestine today.
Abu Azum said Mansoor was killed “at his house…with his wife and son.”
“Targeting war crimes against journalists”
According to the Government Media Office of Gaza (GMO), the killings of two journalists will result in the number of media workers killed in Israeli attacks between October 2023 and October 208 to 208-208.
In a statement Monday, the GMO said it “strongly condemns the targeting, killing and assassination of Palestinian journalists due to Israeli occupation,” calling on press advocacy groups to condemn “these systemic crimes against Palestinian journalists and media experts in Gaza.”
The GMO said Israel and its main allies, the United States and “countries participating in genocide, such as the UK, Germany and France, are fully responsible for committing this heinous crime.”
The committee protecting journalists (CPJs) condemned the killings of Shabat and Mansour and called for an independent investigation into whether they were intentionally targeted.
The CPJ chief executive said, “The intentional and targeted killing of journalists, civilian journalists is a war crime,” adding that the organization is investigating several cases where Israel appears to be intentionally targeting journalists.
“It’s a war crime. Journalists and civilians should never be targeted,” she said.
“Another bloody day”
Meanwhile, the fierce Israeli bombing across the besieged territory continued throughout Monday since Israel ended a fragile two-month ceasefire after Israel imposed an updated blockade on Palestinian territory.
Since the massive Israeli attack resumed on March 18, more than 700 people have been killed, including hundreds of children, in shocking, relentless artillery fire.
Abu Azoum of Al Jazeera said it was “another bloody day.”
At least 50,082 Palestinians were killed and 113,408 injured in the Israeli war with Gaza, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health.
