Authorities seized more than $7 million worth of vehicles, including models such as Bentley, Rolls Royce and Ferrari.
Police have seized more than 60 cars in London as part of a crackdown on nuisance drivers, with the vehicles valued at $7.7 million and including models such as Ferraris, Lamborghinis and McLarens. Authorities also arrested five people on charges of everything from insurance fraud to careless driving.
British authorities have seized more than 60 supercars and luxury vehicles as part of a crackdown on nuisance drivers, with the effort focused on central London after Westminster residents complained about drivers who drove poorly or too quickly.
The crackdown began on August 2, with the Metropolitan Police working in conjunction with Westminster City Council and the Motor Insurance Bureau. By the end of the operation, authorities had seized cars worth £6 million (US$7.7 million/€7 million), including models from Bentley, Rolls-Royce, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren.

Officials did not go into details, but images posted by Westminster City Council’s press office showed a Ferrari Purosangue, a Lamborghini Urus, a Rolls-Royce Cullinan and a Wraith, as well as a Range Rover Evoque and an older car that appeared to make some sort of political statement.
Police impounded dozens of vehicles and arrested five people on charges including “insurance fraud, using a cell phone while driving, not wearing a seat belt and careless driving.”
Special Inspector Geoff Tatman, of the Metropolitan police, said: “This hugely successful operation proves we are tackling the crimes such as anti-social driving that cause the most hardship to residents and visitors,” adding that the partnership between the three organisations “shows Londoners that we are redoubling our efforts to tackle road crime.”
Westminster city councillor Paul Dimoldenberg echoed the sentiment, saying: “People who think they can use our roads as their own private racing tracks late at night are not welcome in Westminster,” adding: “The noise and dangerous driving caused by these boy racers is often worse in the summer so I welcome these consequences of enforcement action.”
Thanks to the roads and the tracks
