The outpatient surgery center was assessed entirely on objective, risk-adjusted measures of patient outcomes, including avoiding complications, emergency room visits, unscheduled hospitalizations, and other unwanted outcomes.
The analysis described patient factors, including pre-existing conditions, to ensure a fair comparison. US News & World Report awards the designation of “Best Outpatient Surgery Centres” only to the highest rated surgical centers that meet the statistical ratings of US News’ performance. 16% of the facilities rated were rated “High Performance”.
