The Aaron Rodgers drama is entering the second week of NFL free agency and is split into national media stories about how realistic the signature with the Minnesota Vikings is. Regardless of what happens, the Vikings still have JJ McCarthy and appear to be on good hands towards the 2025 season.
For a backstory: Michael Silver and Diana Lassini report that Rogers is waiting for Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell to decide whether Minnesota is willing to approve the contract. Apparently, that’s O’Connell’s appeal. Meanwhile, Adam Schefter, Tom Pericero and Ian Rapoport continue to say that Rogers to the Vikings is unlikely.
As long as the rumors from Rogers to Minnesota have a pulse, we’ll keep an eye on it. Follow me for updates…
6:16pm – Rogers is not to decide “at least hurry”
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network can’t get the feeling that Aaron Rodgers are “in a hurry at all” to decide where Aaron Rodgers will play in the next season. “There’s actually no deadline, so if you end up signing the Giants, the Vikings, the Steelers, or anyone, Aaron Rodgers, if that’s someone, then you want that now, but the next thing is you’re going to draft someone? Before, maybe you can.”
5:35pm – Vikings “check-on” with veteran QB Joflaco
That’s what Si’s Albert Breer said in his latest column that Flacco visited the Giants last week. Brier also said the Vikings are one of three teams, with the Browns and Steelers being two other teams, “I think he’s still checking out him.”
12:16 PM – Rogers from the Viking “It’s possible, it’s unlikely.”
That’s what ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler was with Dan Patrick on Monday morning.
“I think they’re ready to roll with JJ McCarthy,” Fowler said. “All of their moves are signing two big offensive lines, especially, and we say we’re all involved in JJ McCarthy and his development.”
12:13 PM – Dan Orlovsky says the Vikings need to go with JJ McCarthy
“We feel they have created a clear line after Minnesota let Sam Darnold out of the building.
“If I were Minnesota, I wouldn’t do that. That’s not a negative thing to Aaron.” @Danorlovsky7 doesn’t believe the Vikings should sign Aaron Rodgers. pic.twitter.com/racmouyqwh

11:32 AM – Did the Seahawks think about Rogers before settling down in Darnold?
That’s what Si’s Albert Breer said. He wrote that the Seahawks considered two options, either Darnold or Rogers, after Genosmith was traded for the Raiders. They went with Darnold for several reasons, including Darnold’s time in 2023, working with offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak, who was with the 49ers.
9:59 AM – The AFC coach says Rogers is still a beast.”
Si’s Albert Breer spoke with anonymous executives and coaches who differed in opinions about the Rodgers. Rodgers told Brier that it was a “negative side” of his career (obviously he’s 41), but the AFC defensive coach told Brier that Rodgers was “still a beast.”
“He’s not falling out mentally or swollen arms at all,” the defensive coach told Brier. “Now, his mobility and athleticism are of course not the same as he was 10 years ago.
9:30am – The Giants wait for Rogers and visit with Jaymis Winston
The Giants in New York have already done due diligence by visiting with Joe Flaco and Russell Wilson, but are reportedly talking to veteran quarterback Jamis Winston. Meanwhile, Rogers still has the potential.

9:20am – Silver claims that the decision is in Kevin O’Connell’s hands
“To the Vikings’ achievements, they’ve made him run points about this and ownership doesn’t get in his way,” Silver said on your opinion, Manpodcast on Sunday. “Everyone else is pending for that.”
“Some people who are pretty familiar with what’s going on in that building say it’s literally 50-50,” Silver said, citing people inside the Vikings headquarters.
