The former president and his spouses are protected by the Secret Service for life under federal law, but were given protection when they took office for ages 16 and above.
The Republican president of social media opposed what he said was the 18 agents assigned to Hunter Biden’s protective details in South Africa this week. He said Ashley Biden had 13 agents assigned to her details, and she would also be “off the list.”
There was no immediate response from the former president’s office.
The former president and his spouse are subject to lifelong Secret Service protection under federal law, but they expanded the child details for six months before both Trump and Biden took office, but were given protection when the 16-plus edge ended.
On Monday afternoon for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, a reporter asked Trump if he would revoke protection for the former president’s son.
“Well, we did that with a lot of people. If we have Hunter Biden and 18 people, I’ll say that it’s something I see this afternoon,” Trump said.
“I’m going to look at it,” he said.
