Hundreds of Venezuelan gang members were deported from the White House to Super Max Prison in El Salvador, even if a US judge blocked the rescue.
US District Judge James E. Boasberg issued an order on Saturday that temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s deportation, but lawyers told him there were two planes in the air.
Boasberg verbally ordered the plane to be rotated, but the order was not included in his written order.
White House spokesman Karoline Leavitt said on Sunday that the administration “did not refuse to comply” with the court’s order.
“The order, which had no legal basis, was issued after the terrorist TDA (Tren de Aragua Gang) aliens were already excluded from US territory.”
In a court filed Sunday, the Justice Department, which appealed Boasberg’s decision, said it would not use Trump’s declaration that it blocked for further deportation unless his decision was reversed.
President Donald Trump avoided questions about whether his administration violated a court order while on board Air Force 1 on Sunday evening, speaking to reporters.
However, he added: “I can tell you this. These were bad people.”
When asked about the calling of presidential forces used during the war era, Trump said, “This is the time of war.”
He also described the influx of criminal immigrants as “invasion.”
“Oopsie…too late,” Salvador President Naive Buquere agreed to house around 300 immigrants in his country’s prisons at a cost of $6 million, and was posted on X above an article on Boasberg’s ruling.
The immigrants were deported after Trump’s alien enemy declaration in 1798, which was used only three times in US history during the wars of 1812 and World War I.

Tren de Aragua comes from the infamous, lawless prison in the central state of Aragua, and it was accompanied by the departure of millions of Venezuelans.
The Trump administration has not identified deported immigrants and has provided evidence that they are actually members of Tren de Aragua or committed crimes in the United States.
He also sent two top members of the Salvador MS-13 gang to El Salvador, who were arrested in the US.

A video released by the El Salvador government shows the bondage man – shaved his head – was taken to prison in a large convoy of buses guarded by police and military vehicles, at least one helicopter.
The immigrants were taken to the infamous CECOT facility.
Deportation bars can be shortened for up to 14 days, and immigrants will remain in federal custody for the duration.
Boasberg scheduled a hearing on Friday to hear additional debates in the incident.
