The local business offering Mexican and Salvador cuisine has expanded its footprint.
The second location at Mo’s Burritos, located at 723 S. Neil Street in Champaign, opened in mid-January, according to manager Brandon Anaya. The business also operates another brick and mortar restaurant in 705 N. Neil St. and three food trucks.
“We have a lot of people who are telling us to go for something bigger,” he said. “And more, where we are now (North Neil Street) only serves seven tables, so it’s usually quite crowded at lunchtime and many people usually leave.”
Anaya said she plans to close the North Neil Street location in the end if customers feel they have moved into a new space.
“In addition to the differences in location size, we now have a bar and we also have a patio, so we’ve added a lot of new items to both the food and now the cocktails,” he said.
Maple & York in Urbana
Maple and York are open
The former Urbana Garden Family Restaurant, located at Killarney St., 810, reopened as Maple & York on March 6th, and co-owner Agron Serimi feels that people are responding well to the brand and remodeling.
“I think people are really impressed with the new menu and the appearance,” he said. “We’ve received a large portion of praise, but it seems people are still happy.”
New hours for the restaurant are Monday through Saturday through Saturday from 6:30am to 3pm and Sunday from 7am to 3pm.
The future location of Christ Community CU, located at 2302 Fox Drive in Champaign.
Local churches leaving Y to travel to Fox Drive
Christ Community CU purchased the property at 2302 Fox Drive in Champaign and launched its service on the site in early 2026, awaiting renovations, said staff member Craig Coady.
“The building needs to be completely reconfigured and renovated, meaning we’ll be creating a large worship area, a connection area so that we can walk in cafes, spaces and classrooms for kids and that the space works well for people with disabilities,” he said.
Currently meeting at the Stevens Family YMCA, the Christ Community CU has been looking for a permanent location for over five years. Coady said Fox Drive is “center-located” and therefore provides ample space for the growing church, making it a perfect fit.
“We want to be a sincere welcome and ultimately a place to find a home for anyone who wants to know who Jesus is and what it means to follow Jesus,” he said.
