The Wizards of Washington are as many of the reconstruction teams as you can get, but they may ultimately be working for them. Especially when Jordan Pool is doing a heat check.

The Wizards guards surprised the Denver Nuggets with a deep pull-up three-pointer on Saturday, smashing a 123-123 tie with 1.8 seconds left. The final heaves from Nicola Djokic were missed, giving Washington the sixth victory in his last 10 games.
By Wizards standards, it’s a hot streak.
The NBA site measured the pool shots as 35 footers.
More encouraging for the Wizard was his career game until 2024’s 28th overall pick, 2024, where he recorded 34 points on 12 of 28 shots, six rebounds and five assists. Before Saturday, his career high was 22 points. Pool finished with 19 points on 7 of 11 shootings.
Jokic finished with 40 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists. This would have helped him in the NBA MVP race.
Without a doubt, the Wizard is still 15-51 and is last dead in the Eastern Conference, but the victory is half a game better than the Utah Jazz for the worst record in the league. Until February 24th, they were 9-47, keeping pace in one of the worst seasons in NBA history.
Now you can squint at the teams that need it and make a little progress. In Washington, that’s good news.
