FRISCO, Texas – 11 years after the Dallas Cowboys, defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence has chosen to sign a three-year contract worth $32.5 million as a free agent with the Seattle Seahawks.
But his words when he arrived in the Pacific Northwest drew the rage of former teammate Mika Parsons on Thursday.
Speaking to Seahawks blogger Brian Nemouther, Lawrence said, “The scenery is always good, but Dallas is my home. I’ve built a house there, my family lives there, I’m going to be there.

It elicited responses from Lawrence’s teammate Parsons from his pass rushing teammate for four years.
“What does this look like rejection and vy hope! This is a clown!” Parsons wrote.
Several members of the Cowboys organization were upset by Lawrence’s comments on Thursday night, sources told ESPN.
Lawrence missed out on his final 13 games of last season after suffering a Lisfranc injury to his right foot. He was hoping he could return later this year, but the Cowboys struggled with a 7-10 finish, which ultimately led to a change in head coaching from Mike McCarthy to Brian Schottenheimer.
Lawrence returned to Parsons and looked at Pro Bowl Edge Rush’s use of social media. Parsons will also be doing a Bleacher Report podcast during the season.
“Calling me a clown doesn’t change the fact that I told the truth. Maybe if you tweeted and gave me more time to win, I wouldn’t have left,” Lawrence wrote to X.
Before free agency, Lawrence told Fort Worth’s Star Telegram she wanted to stay with the Cowboys.

“The ball is on their court,” he said. “I’m not just playing for Dallas. I have other options, but I want to stay here. That’s brilliant.”
The Cowboys were not going to make the same offer that Lawrence received from the Seahawks. Lawrence counts $7.445 million against the Cowboys cap in 2025.
Lawrence was selected in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft and was selected four times to the Pro Bowl with the Cowboys. He recorded a career sack of 61.5.
“I always knew there was more left,” he told reporters Thursday. “I just want you to think of the Super Bowl, and if all the pieces aren’t there, it’s not all together. I have another opportunity to go and chase my dream of winning a Super Bowl with a good team, so I had to take the opportunity because the pieces are in place.”
The Cowboys and Seahawks won’t play each other in the 2025 regular season. But the playoff meetings are juicy.
