Donald Trump’s choice to Washington US lawyer Ed Martin has repeated racist comments in social media posts and columns. The Guardian can be revealed.
Martin was appointed Interim U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia and was appointed permanently to remain in the role. Last week he wrote to Georgetown Law School, instructing him to suspend diversity, equity and inclusion schemes, claiming that his office would not hire anyone connected to a university with a DEI program. He also calls himself one of “President Trump’s lawyers.”
The racist comments revealed include Martin mistakenly claiming that Kamala Harris was “self-identified” as a black man, calling her the new Rachel Dorezal (she was born to white parents but accused of identifying herself as a black man). He recently falsely claimed that Martin Luther King Jr. is a registered Republican.
Where did these comments appear? Some appeared in columns that Martin wrote for Evening Whirl, a crime tabloid in St. Louis, Missouri.
Russia says two people have been killed in a massive Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow as both sides hold peace talks
Russian authorities said two people were killed after Ukraine launched its biggest drone attack on Moscow. The attack came hours before we and our Ukrainian delegation met for peace talks in Saudi Arabia.
The Russian Ministry of Defense said Ukraine fired 337 drones overnight in Russia on Monday, including 91 in the Moscow region. Ukrainian official Andriy Kovalenko said on Tuesday that drone attacks should encourage Russian president Vladimir Putin to “be interested in a ceasefire in the air.”
When the negotiation team met in Jeddah, Polish Prime Minister Donald Task emphasized the importance of Tuesday’s consultations, begging the delegation to “not waste this opportunity” and reminding them that “the whole world is watching.”
Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was arrested in Manila after ICC warrant
Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte was taken into custody in Manila after the International Criminal Court issued a warrant for arrest for the so-called “war on drugs.”
The president’s office said Duterte, 79, was arrested at Manila Airport after returning from Hong Kong on Tuesday morning. The ICC accused him of committing crimes against humanity during his drug crackdown.
Influential politician Duterte was elected in 2016 after promising bloody crackdown to drive the Philippines away from drugs. After taking office, he publicly stated that he would kill alleged drug dealers and urged the public to kill addicts.
How did Duterte react? In response to speculation that his arrest was imminent on Sunday, he said: “If this is really the fate of my life, it’s fine, I’ll accept it.” But when he was arrested, he said: “You’ll just have to kill me. I won’t allow you to take the white foreign side.”

The last thing: Actors about whether they get drunk or take medicine
It has recently exploded on a show featuring drunk characters, from the industry to white lotus to happiness.
