Companies selling smartwatch face designs sell their designs through inappropriate tokens. This sues LVMH and denies the gorgeous fashion conglomerate of patent infringement.
In a March 10 complaint filed in federal court in Texas, Watch Skins Corporation alleged that LVMH misused “pioneering NFT display technology.”
Watch Skins claimed it had developed a unique system that allows users to display validated NFT artwork on their smartwatches, and that it had developed a unique system that holds multiple patents related to the technology.
Smartwatches from other products from the Watch brand tag Heuer and Conglomation brand owned by LVMH claimed they illegally used NFT display technology based on three patents owned by Watch Skins.

LVMH is a multinational holding company that owns a number of well-known luxury brands, including Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, TAG HEAER, Tiffany, Christian Dior, Hennessy and the champagne brand Moet & Chandon.
Watch Skins said the original patent covers a system that validates ownership of NFTs before displaying it on Watch Face. The second patent covers systems that require NFTs to be verified in a blockchain wallet before they appear on smartwatches, while the third focuses on the acquisition and display of customized watch faces based on NFT ownership.
Tag Heuer claimed that it encouraged its customers to infringe patents by providing instructions on how to use the NFT display feature.
“This watch allows you to view NFTs if owned by your Crypto wallet (and) connect to your Crypto wallet to ensure the reliability of the pieces you see,” the complaint explained.

Watch Skins has requested jury and compensation for the profits and royalties from the losses caused by court orders that prevented LVMH from further use of patented technology.
The company announced the launch of the world’s first blockchain NFT watch face marketplace at the Consumer Electronics Show held in Las Vegas in 2020.
The mobile app “gives consumers the ability to buy a face of a real licensed smartwatch from their favorite brand,” Watch Skins said at the time.
Cointelegraph contacted LVMH about comments.
