Linebacker Harold Landry said sources confirmed to ESPN on Sunday amid multiple reports that the sources reached a three-year, $43.5 million contract with the New England Patriots, including a $26 million guarantee.
Landry will be reunited with former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel, who became the Patriots head coach this offseason. The linebacker, who played for Vrabel from 2018 to 2023, is well aware of the New England region where he played for Boston College.
The Patriots have implemented an offensive defensive system under first-year defensive coordinator Terrell Williams, and Vrabel says the goal is to play on the other side of the scrimmage. Williams was Titan’s defensive line coach under Vrabel from 2018 to 2023, and was well-known to Landry.
Titan released the laundry on Friday after the deal didn’t come true despite the team giving agents permission to ask for one.
The 28-year-old Landry led the team with nine bags last season, scoring 15 tackles and 15 quarterback hits in 17 starts. It was his third year in a row, including at least nine sacks, including his only Pro Bowl season, 2021 career high 12.
