New York Yankees ace Geritcole received an MRI on a pitching elbow after allowing six runs in his latest start. Cole and the Yankees received their first MRI results but are looking for a second opinion. Cole told reporters he was “worried” about his elbow.
“I want the best,” Cole told Brian Hoch on Saturday. “There were a lot of good things going on in the game the other day, but when I got home, I kept getting more and more painful. Something was wrong.”

The 34-year-old right-hander also dealt with elbow issues last spring. Specifically, last season’s call extended the 17th start, pitching to 121 ERA+ and a 3.41 K/BB ratio. In 2023, Cole won the Alsi Young Award for his dominant campaign. At this point, Cole has to be in the hope that he will miss the time, but at this point how long it is unknown.
The Yankees are also dealing with the loss of Cole’s rotation mate Lewis Gill, who is on the sidelines for LAT stocks at least in late May or early June.
The Yankees will finish the 2024 season and win both the American League East title and the pennant before falling for the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. Aaron Boone’s club is fishing to win the division again in 2025 despite outfielder Juan Soto’s defeat to the Crosstown New York Mets in free agency. They added the Max frontline starter that fried this offseason, but the injury is already eating in what was once an enviable rotation in the Bronx.
