There’s something about Range Rover that really appeals to our sense of adventure. It must be the fact that they have done an excellent job of selling their own cars over the years. Perhaps the fact that they are British automakers that are very unique in their own right. Whatever the right answer, we were excited to be in Beller, as getting a Range Rover in Utah is a unique experience for us as well.
After a week of driving, navigating city streets and conquering unpredictable mountain weather, I fully enjoyed the opportunity to test the 2025 Range Rover Velar, a refined, luxurious SUV that brought impressive performances in every state they encountered.
Whether you tackle the late winter storms on your daily commute around Utah Valley or a quick trip to Interstate 15 to Neffy, Velar has proven its position as a whole season of all the terrace performers with interior comforts we didn’t expect.
First impression: Elegance with edges
Our first chance at Velar was proof that it was very impressive to combine modern luxury with sturdy features in the interior. Our test model was finished in impressive Vasuresin blue and I turned my head everywhere I went. Velar’s flash door handles, minimalist front grille and signature LED lighting created a futuristic look.
Again inside, we were greeted by an exquisitely crafted interior with Windsor leather seats, a minimalist dashboard with a state-of-the-art 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen. The PIVI Pro Infotainment System provided seamless connectivity including wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and high-resolution navigation systems.
The Meridian 3D surround sound system felt like a personal concert, whether enjoying classical music on a snowy evening or a road trip playlist driving an I-15.
Daily Driving: Smooth Operator in Utah Valley
Before we got Veller on our highway journey, we passed that pace in everyday driving conditions around Utah Valley. From running errands in Springville and Provo, heading to meetings in Orem or picking up groceries at Costco, Verler provided a calm, composed driving experience.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, which generates 247 horsepower, provided plenty of power for city driving, while the eight-speed automatic transmission shifted smoothly.
Maneuvering the tight parking lot was easy thanks to the 3D surround camera and parking assist feature. Velar’s adaptive air suspension easily absorbs road defects, and even the most uneven pavement feels like a smooth ride.
Despite being medium sized, the SUV was treated with accuracy and ease, proving that luxury was not brought about at the expense of agility.
Fuel efficiency was impressive for an SUV of this caliber, with a rather 24-mile combination of 24 miles per gallon. The mild hybrid system contributed to smooth stop-and-go performance. This is perfect for navigating traffic on Springville’s I-15 or Main Street.
Late Winter Storm: The Ultimate Test of Ability
If you’re lucky, Utah’s unpredictable weather has given you a great opportunity to test the Velar all-wheel drive system. A winter storm rolled mid-week, covering the valley with fresh snow, turning local roads into a somewhat icy challenge.
With a quick turn on the Terrain Response dial, we engaged in setting snow modes, allowing Velar to automatically adjust traction control, throttle response and torque distribution for optimal grip. It was the wind that morning, slippery and headed to work. The heated seats and steering wheel were highly appreciated and kept us comfortable as temperatures drop below freezing throughout the week.
The brakes felt safe even on smooth surfaces thanks to Velar’s advanced ABS and stability control system. We witnessed several vehicles struggling to grip the ice paths, but the Range Rover was confident in handling the conditions and giving us confidence in the winter driving conditions.
Highway Performance: A relaxing and attractive drive to Nefi
For a longer test, we set out on a “Sunday Drive” to NEPHI via I-15, covering almost 100 miles of round trip. Velar’s highway manners were perfect, providing a quiet cabin with minimal road noise. At cruising speed, the aerodynamics and adaptive cruise control of the SUV contributed to a relaxed and easy drive.
The acceleration was smooth and the turbocharged engine provided plenty of passing power. Merging with the highway is seamless, with the optional 3.0-liter inline 6 engine (available for those who need additional performance) potentially making the Beller an even more exhilarating highway companion.
The lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control worked harmoniously, allowing us to sit and enjoy the journey while maintaining a safe distance. Head-up displays retain essential information in our gaze, reducing the need to take a quick look at instrument clusters.
As we approached Nephi, we took a small detour to some backroads and explored Vera’s off-road prowess. The electronic air suspension allowed for increased ride height, allowing easy access to gravel roads without hesitation. Even in mild off-road conditions, Velar’s abilities were clear – it’s a gorgeous SUV that he didn’t shun from the adventure.
Technology and Safety: Go One Step ahead
Safety and technology were essential to the Velar experience. The array of driver assistance features such as blind spot assistance, traffic sign recognition and emergency braking made me feel safe in all scenarios. ClearSight rearview mirrors using high-resolution camera feeds have proven particularly useful in low vision conditions.
Within the cabin, the Pivi Pro infotainment system remained intuitive, with a customizable home screen and tactile feedback controls. Wireless charging and multiple USB-C ports ensured the device was mounted, but the integrated air purification system helped maintain a fresh cabin environment even after tracking in snow and mud from outdoor excursions.
At the end of the week: gorgeous all-season performers
After a week at the 2025 Range Rover Velar, it’s clear that this SUV is more than just a cute face. It was a well-balanced SUV that seamlessly blended luxury, capabilities and innovation. Whether working on daily commutes in Utah Valley, sailing through winter storms or embarking on highway trips, Beller handled all his challenges with grace and confidence.
