With Craig Reed stepping down after 10 years as President and CEO, the Four Seasons tradition once again provides fertile ground for Auberge leadership.
MILL VALLEY, Calif. – Christian Clark has been named president and CEO of Auberge Resorts Collection, effective September 1, 2024, succeeding Craig Reed after 10 years in the role. Clark will be based in Auberge’s Bethesda, Maryland office.
Clark served as global president of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts from 2016 to 2022, overseeing 127 hotels across 47 countries, 51 residential properties, more than 50 properties under development and 50,000 employees. Auberge currently owns 28 luxury properties, primarily in North America.
“We first discussed succession planning over two years ago and Christian was always my first choice to lead Auberge in its next chapter,” Reid told Hotel Investment Today after the announcement. “He has the personality, the pedigree and, most importantly, the heart to be a player with a huge impact. He also quickly formed a very strong bond with our Chairman, Dan Friedkin. What’s even better is that Christian is a lifelong AS Roma fan and Dan, of course, is an owner of the team.”
“Christian is a dynamic and respected leader in the hospitality industry, and his proven approach to luxury guest experiences synergizes perfectly with our vision for Auberge as we continue to build our highly sought-after brand,” said Dan Friedkin, chairman and CEO of The Friedkin Group and chairman of Auberge Resorts Collection. “He has a unique perspective on what a luxury hospitality brand should be and deep expertise in delivering curated experiences in one-of-a-kind properties that exceed the expectations of the world’s most discerning travelers.”
Prior to taking on responsibility for global operations at Four Seasons, Clark served as President, EMEA from 2014 to 2016, overseeing the company’s operations in the region. Previously, he led Hotel George V in Paris, served as Regional Head for Southern Europe and held various general manager and regional vice president roles across the Americas. Following his retirement from Four Seasons in 2022, Clark will serve on the board of Artemis RE Partners and become Chairman of the board of DuPont Registry Group, a luxury automotive and motorsports ecosystem, advising on a range of luxury development projects globally.
“I am thrilled to join the Auberge team,” said Clercq. “Auberge has earned a reputation for creating unique, authentic experiences, and I am honored to play a role in further enhancing that reputation. I look forward to working closely with our talented team and strategic partners as we continue to pursue our vision of building a leading brand in luxury hospitality.”
