US Vice President JD Vance said the best way to protect Ukraine from another Russian invasion is to ensure that the US has economic interest in Ukraine’s future.
“If you want a real security guarantee, and if you want to actually ensure that Vladimir Putin does not reinvade Ukraine, the best security guarantee is to give Americans economic benefits in the future of Ukraine.
“It’s a much better security guarantee than a 20,000-man unit from some random countries that have not fought war in 30 or 40 years,” he said.
The interview reportedly announced that it had suspended military aid to Ukraine aid a few days after the White House suspended military aid to Ukraine and that it had announced it had suspended military aid to Ukraine just a few days after Donald Trump clashed with Ukrainian President Volodymia Zelensky in his oval office.
“What is the actual plan here? You can’t fund the war forever. The American people don’t support it,” Vance said. The interview was pre-recorded, so it is unclear whether they knew that the US had suspended aid by the time Vance aired.
Vance and Hannity spoke about the controversial meeting on Friday. He said the door was still open for negotiations.
“There was a lack of respect. Regarding Zelenskyy, Vance said. “They showed that they made it clear that President Trump would discuss the peaceful reconciliation he was trying to bring to this situation.”
Before the meeting on Friday, the mineral trade was intended to establish a joint fund between the US and Ukraine, which earns revenue from the mining of Ukraine’s rare earth metals and other valuable minerals.
Later in the interview Monday, Vance doubled his criticism of European leaders over freedom of speech and democracy. The Vice President argued that the Biden administration promoted censorship.
“These ideas will destroy Western civilization,” Vance said. “They are going to destroy Europe, and if they allow them to fester, they will destroy the United States.”
He continues to recur with anti-immigrant rhetoric, claiming that mass migration is a major threat to Europe. By the end of the interview, the conversation turned into an anti-trans topic a few days after Trump signed an executive order banning trans athletes from competing in women’s sports.
