CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) – Carolina Panthers legend Luke Kuechly will be joining CBS Sports Network as a college football game commentator for select games next season, according to multiple reports.
According to Joe Person of The Athletic, Kuechly is expected to be in the broadcast booth for those games.
While this will be the former All-Pro linebacker’s first stint in television, it won’t be his first in media or even broadcast media – he was part of Carolina’s radio broadcast team last season, working alongside former Panthers quarterbacks Jake Delhomme and Anish Shroff.
Known for his thorough film study and attention to detail, Kuechly’s knowledge of the game has made him one of the greatest linebackers of all time, with some saying he studied film so much that he knew what play an opponent was going to make before the ball was even snapped.
According to On3 Sports, Kuechly, a Panthers fan favorite, is expected to work alongside former NFL player Logan Ryan.
Although he only played eight seasons in the NFL, Kuechly was named first or second team All-Pro every season except his rookie year, during which he won Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. Kuechly battled concussions throughout his career and retired at age 28.
After starring at Boston College, Kuechly was a first-round pick out of Carolina in the 2012 draft.
Former Panthers star Greg Olsen will also be moving from his job as Fox Sports’ top NFL commentator to the second crew ahead of the 2024 season, a move the network made after hiring Tom Brady as its lead game commentator.
