An Indian student studying in the US has been in coma for the past 10 days after encountering an accident. Neelam Cinde and the girl identified as the final student at an American university were hit by a California four-wheeler.
As Donald Trump tightened restrictions on entry into the country, her father is seeking help from the central government prime minister to get a visa.
Neelam Sinde is a resident of Satara district of Maharashtra. The incident occurred on February 14th, and police arrested the driver of the vehicle. Neelam Sinde, who suffered head injuries and fractures on his head and feet, is admitted to the hospital where he has been in a coma for 10 days.
According to NDTV, the student’s father, Tanaji Shinde, said the family only got to know about the accident on February 16th, two days after the incident. “They said she met in a major accident,” he said.
He said they have been trying to get a visa since then, but they had no luck.
“But we don’t have it yet,” he said.
The girl’s father said the hospital allowed her to work in Neelam. “She’s in a coma now. We need to be there,” my dad said.
Meanwhile, MEA sources have notified that the Foreign Office has addressed the issue of visas with the US, news agency PTI reports.
NCP (SP) leader Supriya Sule is also seeking the help of the Foreign Minister of S Jaishankar to obtain a visa for the girl’s family.
In a post on X, Supriya Sule wrote: Tanaji Sinde, a father from Satara, Maharashtra, India, needs to visit his daughter urgently due to a medical emergency. Tanaji Shinde has applied for an emergency visa to the US and needs assistance. ”
