The cancelled Romanian vote with Georgek is a cause of serebre for US conservatives as they seek to boost right-wing politicians around Europe.
Jacques Posobiek, another prominent Magazine influencer and conspiracy theorist, mentioned the speech of the US Vice President JD Vance at the Security Conference in Munich. There, he bumped into Romania’s Supreme Court and said that the Winter ruling undermined European democracy.
“JD: The EU has abandoned traditional values. You just overturned the election with the EU leader in Romania: Lies! Strange! Fascist! Also, as soon as EU: JD leaves, we will arrest Romanian presidential candidate and his supporters,” posted by Posobiec, shared by Musk.
Romanian courts wiped out the results of the first round of elections last November over allegations that Russian influence operations were the Pro Kremlin and supported Georgek’s candidacy, defending the end of European support for Ukraine.
Musk also reposted a message from George Simion, the leader of Romania’s far-right AUR party, calling for protests in front of the prosecutor’s office. There, a crowd of about 200 people chanted Georgek’s name, waving Romanian flags and boos.
“(Georgescu) was coming to (The) Aur headquarters to create a file for the candidates in the President’s Office. We raised 300,000 signatures for him,” Simion said in X.
According to Romanian media, prosecutors are about to arrest Georgek and begin searching for the property of his close friends, including his bodyguard and mercenary leader Horaiu Potra.
Prosecutors suspect that 27 people are acting against Romania’s constitutional order. They didn’t name Georgek or his aides in a statement, but far-right politicians argued that the search was intended to block his new president’s candidacy ahead of the May re-election.
