
Based on Nielsen Media Research’s Live +Same Day data, “World News Tonight with David Muir” was ranked in Total Viewers (8.308 million) in the week of February 17, 2025, as the number one programme for total viewers (8.308 million) on all broadcasts and cables (excluding sports).
“World News Tonight” was present in “NBC Nightly News” (6.692 million, 1.021 million and 643,000 viewers, 1.66 million viewers, 159,000, 159,000, 15,000, 159,000, 15,000, 15,000, 159,000, 15,000, 15,000, 15,000, 159,000). Adults 18-49.
For the fourth consecutive week, “World News Tonight” expanded its total audience lead, winning “NBC Nightly News” both weekly (+4% – 1.616 million vs. 1.557 million) and yearly (+31% – 1.616 million vs. 1.616 million vs. 12.3 million). Additionally, “World News Tonight” has earned the largest viewer lead over the NBC program in nearly six months since 8/26/24. For the third consecutive week, “World News Tonight” improved in the same week with total audiences last year (+7%/+516,000-8.308 million vs 7.792 million), adults 25-54 (+9%/+96,000-1.054 million vs 1.054 million) and adults 18-49 (+15%/+103,000-794,000 vs 691,000), 794,000 vs 691,000). This week’s “World News Tonight” (8.308 million, 1.5 million, 643,000, and 643,000 respectively) beat CBS Evening News (4.639 million, 638,000, 440,000, and 3.669 million viewers, 512,000 adults 25-54, and 354,000 adults 18-49. Previous seasons, “World News Tonight” (7.9444 million) ranked number one in total viewers for the ninth consecutive year, based on most current data. “World News Tonight” was ranked number one in total viewers for the ninth consecutive year. “World News Tonight” was ranked number one in the NBC Nightly News (6.361 million) leads 1.583 million and CBS Evening News (4.656 million) $3,288 million. In fact, “World News Tonight” has expanded its total audience lead beyond NBC, compared to the same points last season (+35% to 1.583 million vs 174 million) and the largest in 30 years since the 1994-1995 season. “World News Tonight” ranks number one among adults 25-54 and 18-49 adults in the sixth season. ABC Newscasts last season, with adults 25-54 (+1% – 137 million vs 11.3 million) and 18-49 (+1% – It has improved on the same points at 785,000 vs 777,000). Additionally, “World News Tonight” (1.137 million and 785,000 respectively) leads NBC (947,000 and 633,000 respectively), increasing margins from the same points since last season with triple digits of adults 25-54 (+164% to 190,000 vs 72,000) and adults 18-49 (+145% – 152,000 vs 62,000) from the same points. Additionally, “World News Tonight leads CBS Evening News (677,000 and 452,000 respectively), with 460,000 adults, 25-54 adults and 333,000 adults, 18-49.
