🏀 Luka’s Revenge Game: Luka Doncic dropped his first triple double as Laker (19-15-12) in LA’s 107-99 victory with the Mavericks on Tuesday. “It’s going to take a while for the closure,” Luke said. “I’m glad the game is over.”
🐐Goat: Lionel Messi played three official games against MLS enemies in 2025. He scored or created four goals Tuesday night, including a banger with Sports Kansas City.
Rimbo’s CFP: The format for this year’s College Football Playoffs remains in Limbo. Executives looked into the changes during a meeting in Dallas Tuesday, but no decision was made.
Portho’s Perfecto: Portland pilot Lefty Ryan Rembisz made history on Tuesday, pitching the 22nd nine-inning perfect game in NCAA Division I history. He hit a 12 and threw just 90 pitches.
Chief predicts Kelce’s return: Travis Querce is reportedly undecided about the future of his play, but Kansas City thinks he will return to his 13th season. “The way we left it at the end of the season was that he was fired and spent another year on his contract,” GM Brett Veach said.
taurasi retires: “I’m full and happy.”
Diana Taurasi concluded one of basketball’s most renowned careers on Tuesday by officially announcing her retirement from the WNBA.
What she says: “I’m just full, mentally and physically,” three-time NCAA champions, three-time WNBA champions and six-time Olympic gold medalists said in an interview with Time. “That’s probably the best way I can explain it. I’m full and I’m happy.”
From Cassandra Negley on Yahoo Sports:
From the fastest, it’s 5,000 points, 7,000 points, and ultimately 10,000 rounds. Three championships. Two final MVPs. The most valuable player award for guarding the front court Dominant League.
A suited achievement for the Diana Taurasi Hall of Fame requires a long list to spread to the floor like an ancient scroll. And even that may not be enough for a 20-year career of consistent greatness.
Before the Kate Rinklerk effect, there was Taurashi. Female athletes rarely appeared in newspapers during their college years and had no extensive use of social media (Facebook was founded in 2004).
However, three consecutive championships in Connecticut push the team and star players into the national spotlight. She took over the game with the swagger and confident that some might call him cocky, she became the most famous star of women’s basketball.
The attention didn’t change her. Forget about being quiet. Taurasi was shy and a lime competitor in the courts, who spoke garbage and gained the best possible advantages to win. And she did that a lot.
When Phoenix Mercury drafted Taurasi overall, the WNBA, who is not yet 10, was pleased to accept her. Casual sports fans probably couldn’t name all the WNBA teams of that era, and many of its best players. But they knew Taurashi.
Over the years, she became the league ambassador, not necessarily her outspoken face. Her refusal to accept her play, commitment, and “less than that” set a continuous new standard from her first season to the end.
Last words: “No one who knows even a bit of Diana is surprised by the way she retired – on a quiet Tuesday in February.” “It’s always been about victory and basketball games. It’s never about self-promotion.”

Can College Soccer be a sport all year round?
The decades of driving force that makes men’s college soccer a year-round sport is adding steam.
Latest: US Soccer launched a 32-team pilot program last summer with the Big Ten and ACC, and began debating about testing the effectiveness of spreading the College Football Calendar throughout the school year.
The idea includes six additional teams in addition to the ACC (15 teams) and the Big Ten (11) – brought to a wider group at the United Soccer Coach Convention last month.
This is the latest in an ongoing effort dating back to at least 2000, rescheduling the men’s college soccer schedule. But what’s important is that this is the first time that the national governing body of sports has been seriously involved.
What they are saying: “The Federation is doing what the Federation should do in the end. This is worrying not only about the national team, but also about the US soccer landscape,” Rusty Oglesby, head of women’s soccer coach at Hardin Simmons University and former president of United Soccer coach, told Spouchco.
Why change the calendar? The goal is to arrange college games more on a professional calendar and spread the match evenly. “No other major professional or high-end developmental leagues play such compression schedules,” writes Matt Brown in his newsletter, ExtraPoint.
Unlike other university sports, the DI soccer programme matches every 3-4 days for most top tier leagues, as they tend to play at roughly the same cadence as professional counterparts.
According to a 2010 survey, spreading the season in both semesters will improve training, improve injuries and six times more if you play twice a week.
The other side: those who oppose the changes said scheduling competition (i.e., the December MLS draft), support staff (i.e. trainers working on other spring sports), and the impact on their college experience (i.e., “It’s very healthy to have friends outside of soccer.”).
Related news shows MLS is also investigating calendar overhauls that turn the start dates from February to August, in line with the European “Big Five” league.
