Atlanta News First – A luxury apartment complex costing more than $4,000 a month has residents breaking leases. They say it’s for their own safety.
Residents of LaFrance Square Luxury Apartments near Pullman Yard say they have not responded to emails saying that management needed more security measures in areas they thought were safe.
“I’ve been emailing for probably 24 days and they haven’t responded to any of my emails,” said resident Petra Jones.
At least four car thefts have been in the neighborhood since August, Atlanta police say.
Other residents say something sounded like a shootout at the complex earlier this month.
“It was very surprising,” said resident Tamica Robinson.
Residents say they noticed an increase in police presence for two days of the shooting, and then everything returned to normal.
Amir Khan showed the first crew of the Atlanta News that what he was saying was a bullet hole in the incident.
“(Management) needs to fulfill their mandatory duties in protecting residents, especially when you charge them a lot of money,” Khan said. “We should feel safe in our homes. I don’t feel that way. ”
Currently, the complex has unmarked security guards, but some residents say that it’s not enough.
“When you promote a luxury townhome, you usually have some luxurious customer service,” Samuel Mitchell said. “I was promised a gate, but it was never given to the residents. I was promised that there were no security cameras, extra lighting, and essentially no precautions in place.”
Atlanta News first contacted property management firms Cushman and Wakefield. We are waiting for a response.
