Dimon was asked by CNBC’s Leslie Picker if he supports the government’s efficiency efforts by Elon Musk’s advisory board. He refused to give what he called a “binary” response, but made comments in favor of the overall effort.
“The government is inefficient, not very capable and requires a lot of work,” Dimon told Picker. “It’s not just waste and fraud, it’s a consequence.”
Dimon said the Trump administration’s efforts to scrutinize federal agencies with spending and scrutiny “have to do” and “have to do it.”
“Why are we spending money on these things? Are we getting what we deserve? What should we change?” Dimon said. “It’s not just a deficit, it’s a government that we deserve, it’s not just a deficit, it’s the right policy and procedure.”
Dimon said if Doge overcomes cost-cutting efforts or engages in activities that are not legal, “the court will stop it.”
“I hope it’s very successful,” he said.
In a wide range of interviews, Dimon also expressed his company’s promotion of his company in office five days a week, as well as his views on Ukrainian conflicts, tariffs and US consumers.
