Washington – Dan Bongino, a former US Secret Service agent who wrote the bestselling book, ran for the office and gained fame as a conservative critic of television shows and popular podcasts, becoming the FBI assistant director. I was chosen to serve.
President Donald Trump announced his appointment in a post on his Truth Social Platform on Sunday night, celebrating Bonsino as “a man of incredible love and passion for our country.” He called the announcement “great news for law enforcement and American justice.”
The choice places two stubborn Trump allies on top of the country’s best federal law enforcement when Democrats are concerned that the president will try to target his enemy. Bongino was sworn in as the White House FBI director on Friday, and intends to restructure the bureau, including moving hundreds of employees from Washington headquarters and focusing on traditional FBI crimes. The assistant director serves as the FBI commander and is a career agent who is traditionally responsible for the department’s daily law enforcement duties.
Bongino, 49, became a popular right-wing figure after serving as a detail for then-presidents Barack Obama and George W. Bush. He became one of the leading personalities of America’s great political movements in order to spread misinformation about the 2020 election.
In the years since Rush Limbaugh’s death in 2021, he was selected for the radio show at the same time as a well-known commentator.
Bongino worked at the New York Police Station from 1997 to 1999 before joining the Secret Service. He began commentary on Fox News more than a decade ago, hosting Saturday night shows on the 2021-2023 network. He is currently the host of the Dan Bongino show, one of the most popular podcasts.
Bongino competed in the US Senate seat in Maryland in 2012, then moved in 2015, before appearing in Congressional seats in Maryland and Florida in 2014 and 2016. He lost three races.
In an interview last fall, Bongino asked Trump to promise to establish a committee to reform the Secret Service, calling it a “failed” agency, and that it was for two assassination attempts last year. I criticized him.
“That guy shouldn’t be near you,” Bongino said of the man who said he camped outside a Trump golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida before being spotted with a rifle.
In the same interview, Trump praised Secret Service agents for seeing rifle barrels coming out of the bushes.
