Volvo teased the latest model, the ES90, a completely electric luxury sedan built on the brand SuperSet Tech Stack. Officially released on March 5th, 2025, the ES90 is designed to evolve continuously and offers improved safety, connectivity and performance through advanced software integration.
At the heart of the ES90 is the dual NVIDIA drive AGX ORIN core computing system, making it the most powerful Volvo in terms of computing capabilities. The ES90 performs a massive 508 trillion operations per second, leveraging AI-powered active safety features, efficient battery management and integration of real-time sensors to enhance the driving experience. This configuration allows Volvo to scale its deep learning model from 40 million to 200 million parameters over time, continually improving safety and performance.
The ES90 is the second model built on Volvo’s SPA2 platform following the EX90. The Superset Tech Stack supports all of Volvo’s upcoming electric vehicles, so over-the-air updates allow for new connectivity, improved safety and optimized battery efficiency. This means that ES90 owners will benefit from continuous improvements throughout the car’s lifecycle.
The ES90 has safe space technology, so safety is a priority for Volvo. This includes a comprehensive range of sensors, including one LIDAR, five radars, eight cameras, and 12 ultrasonic sensors. These functions work in tandem to detect obstacles even in the dark and activate active safety measures.
“The Volvo ES90 is one of the most technically advanced cars on the market today,” says Anders Bell, Volvo’s Chief Engineering and Technology Officer. “We prioritize safety and continuous innovation based on the superset technology stack.”
