In light of the Eagles’ Super Bowl victory, I think it’s good to talk about how much they love the city of brotherhood with sports fans in Philadelphia. I know that the city of Philadelphia is crazy at times, but the people in Philadelphia who love sports teams know how to connect everyone.
Philadelphia sports fans show their love for the city in so many ways. We are very rough – maybe a little too rough – but we are such loyal fans regardless of the outcome. I may have only lived with two Super Bowl wins and World Series wins, but my love for these Philadelphia teams has grown so much over the years. I grew up in Northeast Philly, but I still live there when I wasn’t in Pittsburgh. My dad is also from Philadelphia, but grew up in the Richmond and Kensington areas. It’s much closer to Center City than Northeast Philly.
As a child, I didn’t pay much attention to Philadelphia sports. Obviously, I was born to sports fans in Philadelphia, so I’ve been a fan since the day I was born. I have been to all Philadelphia sports team games. I really don’t remember the Phillies winning the World Series. I was 4 years old too, so that’s probably why. But I remember the 2018 Super Bowl victory and the 2023 Super Bowl defeat. When the Eagles won their first Super Bowl, I decided to start seeing more of the team.
However, I haven’t watched too much basketball so I don’t pay much attention to the 76ers. All over the place, I check how they do it, but I never fell in love with basketball as a sport. I always look at the Eagles, the Phillies, the Union, and the flyers. For each of these teams, I celebrate the victory equally, but it was different in 2018 and when the Eagles won the Super Bowl this year.
What’s special about sports fans in Philadelphia is that we might get mad even when one of our teams reaches a season and loses suddenly, but we’ll be more seasons coming I know that. We were full of hope when the Phillies had a hard time with a few seasons just before the World Series, and when the Eagles lost three points to the Chiefs in 2023 in the Super Bowl. In the end, we got that second Super Bowl victory. I have a great faith in the Phillies this season.
Many people are splashing Philadelphia sports fans. Philadelphia sports fans are stubborn to their city. Many of us grew up with one or both parents leaving Philadelphia. My dad always has Philadelphia Sports Radio when the game starts. If we’re not at home to watch the game for a while, the game will be played on the car radio for all my family to listen.
I think other sports fans either think we’re too uncomfortable or are calling us trash for our city. I think people who hate us should be more passionate about their team. Or maybe they’re just jealous of our fanbase. Philadelphia Sports is the best way to go through your family. Every time there is a game, we always have a small party or a lovely celebration with just the family. Order cheesesteak and pizza from a favorite nearby location and wait for the game to begin.
We have a lot of passion and that’s what makes us an incredible fanbase. We know that our teams have a lot of hardships, but we always follow that faith. When one of our teams wins something big, we talk about it the rest of the time. There are always memes on social media about how the city of Philadelphia looks like when we win or lose. It’s a video of a city that’s always burning. But we light up what is illuminated on the streets, jump into the trash can, climb poles even when oiled, demolish street lights and street signs, and blow the meek factory off the speakers. we Philadelphia, and we may celebrate in the craziest way or show pain in the craziest way. No one likes us, and we don’t care.
