Amazon is approaching its dream of building a true presence in luxurious ways.
Saks Global, which has modernised its business since purchasing Neiman Marcus in December, is preparing to open a shop on Amazon.
“We have plans to launch a unique and exciting experience,” said global CEO Marc Metrick as part of an extensive interview with WWD on Friday.
An Amazon spokesperson repeated this, adding that they would “share more quickly.”
Sources say the Sax could land on Amazon in a few weeks. It’s not yet clear how the brand will be presented on the platform, if there are special packaging, etc. But Amazon certainly brings online muscle and Saks is the best brand of luxury.
Amazon’s Saks shop has been quietly fussing in the industry even before the e-commerce giant took part in the acquisition of Neiman Marcus.
Amazon is a key connection for both companies as it looks to the high end and Saks appears to reach more shoppers online.
Luxury fashion brands have largely shunned Amazon even after launching the more refined Amazon Luxury Stores Platform in 2020.
Beauty has made considerable progress. For example, Estée Lauder Cos. last year began rolling out its brands to its platform. Fashion brands like Coach have set up shops to test the water.
One CEO of the fashion brand said Saks emphasized that he would not try to pressure the brand to join the shop.
However, it seems that more brands are interested in Amazon these days.
The CEO said it was selling it on Amazon, saying, “I think it’ll probably be the day.” “But I don’t want to be the first guy of it and I don’t want to be the last guy of it. We’re not going to get out of the gate first, but we’re looking at the gate. Customers If you’re buying the full price, who cares about where they shop?”
“We’re looking forward to seeing you in the world,” said Gary Wassner, CEO of fashion finance company Hilldun Corporation.
“I have not heard any objections to that,” Wasner said. “It all depends on marketing and whether they still have the net porter sense.” This is known for its luxurious atmosphere online.
“It’s still too early. You have to see what it actually looks like when they launch,” he said of Amazon. “I believe that Sax and Neiman get things right. I really do. They dominate the luxury spaces in the US right now, and I think they are both their brand and their company. I think they’ll do the right thing by doing. I’m confident.”
