Often, “staff” bylines are used to rewrite basic news briefs derived from official sources, such as city press releases on road closures, with little or no reporting required. Sometimes this byline is used when a news story contains a large number of authors, or when a story is formed by aggregating previously reported news from various sources. If you are using external sources, you will be noticed within the story.
