NEW DELHI – At least 15 people have been killed at a railway station in India’s capital New Delhi, officials said on Sunday.
Delhi caretaker Prime Minister Atish said that although he only uses one name, the body was taken to Loknayak Jaipurakashnaline Hospital in the capital.
The stampede happened late on Saturday, with thousands of people waiting to gather at the New Delhi railway station to board the train to the grounds of the Maha Kumbh Hindu Festival in northern India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was “suffering from the stampede.”
“My thoughts lie with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that the injured will recover quickly. The authorities are supporting all those affected by this stampede,” he said. said in X.
Railway Minister Ashwini Weishno said an investigation was ordered to find what led to the Stampede.
