Authorities also arrested three men in connection with what is called a “robust criminal plot.”
Police said the fraudsters would enter the vehicle dispatch system and reroute the vehicle.
Detectives said the suspect was engaged in rerouting the truck driver at the time of vehicle pickup, diverting the shipment to a fraudulent location.
“We believe this is a very new crime trend,” said Officer Christopher Beth, a spokesman for the Miami Beach Police Department. “Our investigators have revealed and resolved something that many investigators across the country are calling for help. But we are not done. There are other parts of the puzzle. there is.”
Police arrested three suspects. Yuriy Korotovskyy, 41 years old from Aventura. Ahman Geborjean, 53, of Van Nuis, California. On January 31st, 43-year-old Hrant Nazarian of Aventella.
According to their arrest reports, all three are originally from Armenia. Kolotovsky and Geborgian are citizens of the former Soviet country. The report suspected Armenian and Russian origins, saying it was “deeply involved” in the South Florida scheme.
The suspect has been charged with multiple crimes, including grand theft, dealing with stolen property, and conspiracy to commit organized fraud.
Police expect more arrests.
“We look for justice with other key players in this investigation,” Beth said.
