The head of the Federal Communications Commission said he is seeking an investigation into NBCuniversal and its parent company Comcast.
In a post on X, FCC Chairman Brendan Kerr said he was concerned that “companies could be promoting strange forms of DEI that are not compliant with FCC regulations and civil rights laws.” Ta.
Since President Donald Trump’s inauguration, Kerr has used his agency power over broadcasters to an unprecedented degree, to the extent that he has not held modern precedent, and his policy of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is “their definition.” People who have established the system based on their commitment to equality, which they said was free and lewd.”

In a February 11 letter to Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, the FCC chairman, posted online by Carr, pointed to Comcast’s corporate website. It lists diversity, equity and inclusion as “core values of our business.” Carr also cites public reports of Dei Days and Dei Training as part of what the entertainment company’s letter calls “the entire Dei infrastructure.”
Carr said that inclusion efforts amount to discrimination, which “cannot be rectangular to a reasonable interpretation of federal law,” and that “deprive Americans of their right to fair and equal treatment under the law. All I can do is do is do it.”
The FCC has long kept radio and television stations in a robust set of equal rules of employment opportunities. Last year, over Kerr’s objections, then-President Joe Biden’s administration, FCC, moved to revive restrictions that allow broadcasters to publicly disclose data on employees’ race, gender and ethnicity. These rules are currently being challenged in court.
In addition to the NBC-owned television station, Carr’s Letter points out that a wide range of Comcast businesses, ranging from cable and the internet to wireless services, are under the jurisdiction of his agency. Kerr says that is one of the reasons he is targeting Comcast first – as it serves as a shot across the bow of the entire communications industry.

“We hope that all entities regulated by the FCC will comply with our civil rights laws,” Kerr said in his X-Post.
Democrat FCC commissioner Jeffrey Starks (one of two Democrats on the panel) said he was not involved in the investigation.
“The committee at the time blasted the previous administration by acting to “give the FCC almost endless power over private sector decisions,” Starks said in a statement. “From what I know, this enforcement action is out of our lane and out of our reach. I have relied on the theory of the enforcement office of the case, the authorities rely on. And I asked for a briefing to understand the precedent. This action gives me a serious concern.”
A Comcast spokesperson said in a statement provided to ABC News that he said: “We will be investigating the Federal Communications Commission and working with the FCC to answer questions. We respect all our employees and customers. ”
Since taking office, Trump has been aiming to make DEI efforts, signing executive orders to disband such programs in the federal government and cracking down on the DEI initiative with programs that receive federal funds.
Last week, Kerr confirmed that his agency was investigating a local radio news report in San Francisco. And depicted as an effort to increase transparency in his ongoing complaints against CBS, which claims “news distortion,” Kerr opened up issues in public comments, and from an interview given by Kamala Harris to CBS News. I have been instructed to post raw outtakes. . ”
That controversy was sparked by CBS last October when Harris used two different answers to the same question from Whitaker. . The right-wing group known as the American Rights Center has filed a complaint claiming violations of the FCC’s news distortion policy.
