Thank you for your partnership. Go to Jack!
Lima and I are truly grateful to be part of this incredible community and are proud to call us ourselves lumberjacks. Every day, I witness my passion for Flagstaff and the Northern Arizona region. Your dedication to making this an incredible place for living and working inspires us and motivates our work at NAU.
Inspired by a better future, Flagstaff’s common vision for community members founded the site of higher education over 125 years ago. Since then, our city-university partnerships, collaborations and pride have shaped Now’s path to becoming a hub of innovation and impact.
We are honored to build on the legacy of leadership, dedication and collective spirit that defines our community. Together, we are achieving amazing milestones, changing lives, creating the future that our community and all Arizona need today.
One of our fundamental strategic priorities is mutually beneficial community engagement. It shares knowledge, connects experts to real-world challenges, prepares graduates to contribute to the community, spurs economic growth and promotes cultural vitality. I am proud of many partnerships in this respect and would like to highlight some of the things NAU is pursuing our mission as an engine of community engagement opportunities.
Access2Excellence: Last year, this tuition pledge supported 54% of Flagstaff resident students, with an average aid award exceeding $16,000 a year, ensuring access and affordable prices for students in their home community.
Ax of Services: This new digital platform from our Service and Volunteer Action Center will connect residents with local volunteer opportunities and make it easier than ever to give back and strengthen our communities.
Donations to Coconuts: The newly launched Steve Sangi Engineering recently donated $5,000 to support Coconino High School’s nationally recognized, award-winning robotics team.
Kindercamp Teal and Gold Ticket: Through a partnership with Coconino Community College (CCC) and the United Way of Northern Arizona (UWNA), children from UWNA’s Kindercamp program will be “T” NAU after using CCC tuition fees with eal tickets. You can move to. “Golden Ticket” – No tuition fees either!
Nau Day: In collaboration with FUSD, this exciting event encourages local students to imagine themselves in higher education.
Northern Arizona Disability Resource Fair: Our first event was developed in direct response to community feedback to promote networking and collaboration across the local disability community.
Homelessness Research: Associate Professor of Psychological Science is a major project aimed at finding housing and support for unsheltered Arizonans and preventing future homelessness. This includes helping local residents by Flagstaff Shelter Services, Catholic charities in northern Arizona and the Northland Family Help Center.
Sustainability Status: NAU’s first sustainability report highlights progress towards carbon neutrality by 2030, in close alignment with Flagstaff’s sustainability goals. We are proud to be working to embed sustainable practices into our business, preparing the next generation of experts in this critical area.
Team College Bound: This initiative supports local high school families as they navigate university applications and migration. We recently celebrated our second year of graduation from our family.
These and many other initiatives reflect the deep bond between the NAU and Flagstaff. This is a bond rooted in prosperity, social impact, and shared goals for a brighter future for all.
Thank you for your partnership.
