There are no major events on the American cultural calendar. The Super Bowl is everything.
And, taking advantage of the moment, like he has every moment of the past few weeks, Donald Trump was in New Orleans – the first time a sitting president has attended the sports centerpiece .
Within a few weeks he became the president of Omni Presents, very intentionally.
The Americans were able to go for a few weeks without realizing Joe Biden. The world can’t spend the day without realizing Donald Trump and feeling his influence.
But if optics were a game, the news was on a journey there.

Multiple headlines were generated at another improvised press conference on Air Force 1.
In Gaza, tariffs and Putin, the president made the news.
But there was something else he wanted to do first.
As the Air Force crossed international airspace in the Gulf of Mexico, he signed a “Presidential Declaration” and renamed the water beneath the US Gulf.
With a swipe of the President’s Sharpie, he rewrites the map and changes the geography – in his orbit anyway.
Then came a surge in real news, including one move that could truly change geography.
In Gaza, he doubled his claim to take ownership of the strip, but this time he insisted that he “buy” it.
“We’re working on buying and owning Gaza,” he said.

There was a major announcement regarding customs. 25% is worldwide with steel and aluminum. That’s big news.
In his final presidency, he imposed 25% on steel and 10% on aluminum, but granted exemptions for two largest importers, Mexico and Canada. At least for now, this time it’s not the case.
And in his conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he was not drawn to the details of when the conversation took place.

The president didn’t stop at the end of the Super Bowl. He was back in the White House, where another dramatic week of news and change was sure to emerge.
Today, it will be the announcement of tariffs. On Tuesday, Jordan’s King Abdullah will be in Washington, perhaps to tell him how much he opposes the Gaza plan and not allow the Palestinians to relocate.
Expect more on Wednesday for Elon Musk and his government’s efficiency drive as he cuts down government sectors.
And at the end of the week, attention changes to Ukraine.
At the Munich security conference, Vice President JD Vance will lead a US delegation as Western leaders are eagerly awaiting President Trump’s plans.
