You asked, we heard!
A few years ago we featured a post about Harry & David Donut Bouquet. This can be emailed to you for around $60 (yes, it’s super expensive!). Readers have suggested that they make a DIY post on this topic. So… I’m sharing how to create a similar doughnut arrangement using a wooden skewer that resembles a flower!
Save money by creating your own work similar to Harry & David Donut Bouquet!
This doughnut bouquet is a very fun and unique project, and it’s a project I really enjoyed and I know you’ll explode too. It’s much more economical to make your own bouquet at home rather than buying them online. They buy all the supplies from the grocery store and estimate each “doughnut flower” bouquet with ingredients ranging from about $10 to $12.
Which type of donut is the best for a donut bouquet?
In the end, I bought donuts from various grocery stores from the bakery and experimented to see which one would be best. In general, cake-style doughnuts and doughnut holes seemed to be the sturdy and easiest to work with.
What didn’t work at all (and I wouldn’t recommend trying) was a small Debbie mini doughnut. They collapsed easily and fell.
My favorite doughnut was a medium-sized plain cake doughnut from the bakery!
I thought they were so cute and it was the easiest and most stable to work with. I highly recommend grabbing a plain doughnut like this and jazzing it with melted white and semi-sweet chocolate and sprinkles!
You can customize these “doughnut flowers” on any occasion or holiday by using sprinkles of a specific color or coloring melted white chocolate.
Tips for creating the best DIY donut bouquet:
For a molten chocolate drizzle: I added chocolate chips to a bowl with 1/4 of vegetable oil, melted in the microwave in 15 seconds until completely melted, drizzled with chocolate on top of the donut with sprinkles. I also did the same with white chocolate chips and added pink red food coloring. If necessary, you can do this using candy melt instead! You will need to grab a wood skewer to attach the donut. For medium/large donuts, I used two to make them extra sturdy and only one for the donut holes. Consider placing the finished doughnut bouquet on a plastic floral print to transport and store the doughnuts freshly. In the grocery store they usually have them in the flower department and I simply asked if I could have two.
1
Place the parchment on the counter. Poke the two wood skewers through the donut and move the skewers downwards. Poke the second donut above, so that it drills a hole, but thrusts all the way from the top of the second donut. Repeat for the second set.
2
Do the same with about two skewers in the donut hole (4-5 donut holes each). Add decorative picks and elements. I added two chocolate roses.
Note: The photo shows a white mini donut. It fell later and I replaced them with more doughnut holes.
3
Set the arrangements on the parchment as needed. Use clear packing tape to tape the arrangement together.
4
Lay out about 5-6 tissue paper vertically and incite a few pieces a little. Next, place the bouquet in the top left corner.
5
Fold and roll the sides around the bouquet, then fold the bottom up on the stem.
6
Secure the tissue paper with the ribbon and you’re done!
Oya! This donut bouquet is so cute!
See how cute your birthday is! I was actually a little nervous about this foodcraft project being a failure because I had never made anything like this before.
I think it’s definitely a creative little gift idea that someone can make you feel special and edit on many occasions! If you’re looking for a unique and easy Valentine’s Day gift idea, try this DIY!
