Dallas hired McCarthy in 2020 as a successor to Jason Garrett, with a clear mission: post -season success. However, he won only one play -off game and suffered a catastrophic home loss with a wildcard road to San Francisco 49ers (2021) and Green Bay Packers (2023).
McCarthy is following a similar coaching plan sitting a year ago.
After being released by Packers in the second half of the 2018 season, he interviewed Cleveland Browns and Giants, but chose to sit down in the 2019 season.
