The anti -government forces, led by the M23 group, argued that it has dominated sesame, an important city of the East Democratic Republic of Congo.
The rapid advancement of killing at least 13 soldiers from the International Peace Maintenance Army represents a serious escalation of the conflict for many years. According to the UN estimation, more than 400,000 people have evacuated from the beginning of the year. It is one of the world’s largest humanitarian crisis.
On Sunday, the rebellion alliance gave the government to abandon weapons until 3:00 am on Monday. When the first anti -government forces entered sesame, Reuters said in some areas, “the residents praised them on the street and fisted on a fisted armed fighter with a fatigue of green fatigue.” “I’m trying to be kind because of fear,” said a local. “Because they are criminals, they cannot predict their actions.”

Who is the M23?
Guests said that the eastern hill in DRC in contact with Rwanda was the “crater of the rebels and the territory of the militia” derived from the two regional wars that erupted into the soil of the Congo after the 1994 slaughter of Rwanda.
The M23, formed as a derivative of another group in 2012, ended a previous uprising since the Peace Agreement on March 23, 2009. The group is mainly composed of former DRC soldiers who fled from the Army and accused the government that it did not support the agreement. They were mainly ethnic Tutchi, of which about 1 million were killed in Rwanda’s Geno Side.
However, Sky News states that the M23 is only one of the 100 armed groups of “competing for footholds in areas where minerals are abundant.” “Hundreds of thousands of people have been killed and more than 7 million have evacuated.”
The M23 temporarily took over the GOMA in 2012, but said Al Jazeera, “pushed out” in 2013. In 2021, it probably “probably for the support of the updated Rwanda” and “re -emerged”, and since then it has dominated the vast scope of the eastern DRC.
What does the M23 want?
The M23 says that he will defend the DRC ethnic Tutchi. However, DRC has a huge supply of minerals such as gold, tin, copper, and cortin, which are important components in mobile phones. DRC also produces almost three -quarters of the world’s cobalt and nearly 10 % of copper, which is essential for global green energy transitions.
The M23 attack said, “It seems to follow clear logic,” said DW. They want to “acquire control” for resources in this area. This group has already produced a considerable amount of money per month from the cortin production tax in the mining town under its management.
Who is the M23 fighting?
The Congo and their Alliance, including the UN Peace Maintenance Army and soldiers in 16 countries that make up the South African development community (SADC).
The United Nations Peace Maintenance Army entered the DRC in 1999 and has about 14,000 soldiers on the ground, but is allowed to attack armed groups. The BBC said that the Monusco’s mission was accused of “I didn’t work.” President FĂ©lixTSHISEKEDI asked to leave by the end of 2024, but the mission was extended another year in December.
Does Rwanda support the rebels?
At a meeting of an emergency security board of an emergency country on Sunday, the United States, France, and the United Kingdom stated that Rwanda supported DRC’s M23. According to the latest UN report, there are 3,000 to 4,000 Rwanda soldiers in the soil of the Congo. Rwanda has consistently refused to provide M23 with financial and logistics support, but DRC has cut off his relationship with his neighbors on this issue.
Christophe Titeca, a conflict researcher in the Central and East Africa of Antwerp University, stated: “Kim is an important source of foreign currency for Kigari, and many come from the eastern part of the Congo,” he told DW.
According to Kenya’s President William Route, his Congo and Rwanda’s counter part agree to attend an emergency summit. But the situation was “very unstable,” Sky News said.
