Comcast is launching a new strategy aimed at value-conscious TV fans who wanted a slimmer channel lineup and lower payments.
The cable giant announced the launch of Sports & News TV, a new video package for Xfinity Internet broadband customers. This includes access to over 50 live news, sports and broadcast channels, plus Peacock. Sports & News TV is available with Xfinity Internet for an “all-in” rate of $70 per month, with no contract required.
In marketing the package, Comcast is emphasizing the fact that its $70 per month price is cheaper than YouTube TV, which costs $82.99 per month due to December price hikes, and Disney’s Hulu + Live TV service, which starts at $81.99. . / Month is live broadcast only. “Get the new ultimate entertainment experience and save $150 a year over YouTube TV,” the cable operator says on the Xfinity Sports & News landing page.
DirecTV introduced a similar streamlined package called MySports earlier this month. This will initially include 40 sports and broadcast channels, available in 24 metro areas. Regular price is $70/month, but we’re offering a promotional price of $50/month for 3 months.
Separately, Comcast sells an inexpensive streaming video package called Now TV. It lets you watch over 125 channels for just $20 a month, and that doesn’t include sports networks or local TV stations. Your TV now also requires Xfinity Internet broadband service.
Comcast’s Sports & News TV package is available to new and existing Xfinity customers. This includes all local broadcast channels including ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC, Telemundo, and Univision. National news channels such as CNBC, CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC. Sports channels with live coverage including ESPN, ACC Network, Big Ten Network, FS1, Golf Channel, SEC Network and more.
Additionally, Comcast’s Sports & News TV includes access to Peacock, the NBCUniversal streaming service featuring original series, more than 8,000 hours of live sports including NFL football, Premier League Soccer, WWE, and movies. You’ll have access to all new shows the next day. NBC and Bravo, plus library content and daily live news.
Comcast has experienced a shrinking cable TV base for years. The number of domestic video customers ended the third quarter of 2024 at 12,834,000, a decrease of 365,000 in the same period and a decrease of nearly 1.7 million compared to the same period last year.

Sports & News TV offers up to 300 hours of cloud DVR storage. This package also provides access to over 100 streaming channels, including American Crimes, E! Keeping Up, Fox Sports, Telemundo Al Dia, Today All Day, Sky News.
Customers can also add an X1 set-top box to their subscription for an additional fee to take advantage of features such as enhanced 4K, multi-view, odds zones, and integrated search with the Xfinity voice remote. Sports & News TV can be accessed at home or on the go via the Xfinity Stream app on supported third-party platforms including Apple TV, iOS, Amazon Fire TV, and Roku.
Other add-ons available for Xfinity Sports & News TV include the More Sports & Entertainment package (additional $9.995 per month), which includes channels like NFL RedZone, MLB Network, NBA TV, NHL Network, and more, and the Xfinity StreamSaver bundle with Netflix (ads) and Apple TV+ (additional $15 per month).
