I really enjoy this heating mat. We often have people over for dinner, and it’s nice to have something that works like a chafing dish without the expense, hassle of setting it up, or cleaning the chafing dish. I’m glad to finally have it. No fire or stereo required. Just turn it on and bam. Dinner and hors d’oeuvres can be served hot.
I’ve also used it a few times just to keep dinner hot when my husband was late at work, or to keep breakfast food hot when I was cooking multiple items at the same time, but I needed a stove.
A medium setting is best. The outer edge of the white line does not get hot and can be easily moved. The bottom will get hot, so be careful where you place it. But with marble countertops it was fine. I ran it at highest settings to test it. 212 and a bubble appeared after about 10-15 minutes. At first I thought this might be the problem and cause damage, but so far it always comes back to normal. When it’s cold, it’s normal and there’s no damage or problem.
What I liked most was how easy it was to clean. When I wipe it, the liquid beads come off quickly, but so far nothing has stuck to the silicone. It’s a very cool product. It can be rolled up right away, making it easy to store and carry. Next time I’m thinking of using it for an outdoor party!
