CLEVELAND, Ohio — In the hybrid world of work and study brought about by the pandemic, online degrees have become another tool for students seeking advanced education.
U.S. News & World Report released its 2025 online program rankings on Tuesday, and several Ohio shows made the list.
Online programs are eligible for inclusion if “a significant portion of the coursework required to complete the program can be completed through distance education courses.” Limited in-person classes can be considered an online program.
Both bachelor’s and master’s in business administration programs are ranked by U.S. News, as well as specific school programs in business, criminal justice, education, engineering, information technology, and nursing.
Ohio State University topped the Ohio school rankings in half the categories for undergraduate and graduate business, engineering and nursing programs.
The University of Cincinnati ranked among the top schools in Ohio in two graduate school categories: criminal justice and information technology.
Xavier University ranks No. 1 in Ohio for its MBA program, and University of Mount Union ranks No. 1 in Ohio for its graduate education program.
US News ranks programs based on several criteria. Participation in the course and opportunities to interact with professors and classmates are most valued. Other criteria include faculty qualifications and training, services and online learning technology, and student performance.
