South Carolina employs $8.19 billion in industry, 2024
The South Carolina Department of Commerce solicited an industry that is expected to have a total capital investment of $8.19 billion in 2024. Existing industries will be reinvested in the state, with expansion projects expected to total $5.38 billion.
“South Carolina remains committed to business success for the economic advancement of our people and the strength of our overall economy,” said Governor Henry McMaster.
The areas with the highest industry investment were: information technology and computer equipment, $4.1 billion; Automobiles, $1.3 billion. and aerospace, $1 billion.
“The capital investment and economic development activities announced for 2024 will strengthen South Carolina’s position as a competitive destination for businesses,” said Secretary of Commerce Harry M. Lightsey.
“We can create higher-wage, higher-skill economic opportunities by building on the industries where we have established ourselves as a national leader, such as automotive and advanced manufacturing, while unlocking the potential of emerging sectors,” he said. I can do it.”
The $8.19 billion investment is expected to create 5,500 new jobs.

Fine Arts Center Celebrates YoungArts National Honorees
The Fine Arts Center, part of Greenville County Schools, announced that six students have been recognized as winners of the Young Arts National Competition.
This program discovers and develops young artists. Thousands of students apply. The criteria are technology, artistry, and depth of thought that exceed the level of their peers. Each student also received $250.

The winner is William Armstrong, jazz/piano. Anna Cassel, Visual Arts. Ronnie Elliott, jazz/guitar. Mary B. Mays, Visual Arts; Lily Marker, creative writing. Voiced by Taylor Marie Robinson.
Mr. Armstrong was also honored in 2023.
Cassel was also named a YoungArts Award of Excellence recipient. This honor recognizes works of exceptional skill and a strong, sensitive, and clear artistic perspective.
Young people are invited to participate in National YoungArts Week, where their work will be recognized, they will be awarded cash prizes of up to $10,000, and they will have the opportunity to network with industry leaders and peers.
Last year, six students from the Fine Arts Center received the award.

Malachi Rogers promoted to chief meteorologist
Malachi Rogers has been promoted to chief meteorologist for 7News, WSPA-TV and WYCW-TV. He will take over the weather news programs at 4pm, 5pm, 6pm, 7pm, 10pm and 11pm.

Mr. Rogers joined 7News in 2012 as a meteorologist. I earned my American Meteorological Society certification in 2010. After receiving his bachelor’s degree from Furman University, he graduated from the Broadcast Meteorology program at Mississippi State University.
Chief meteorologist Christy Henderson is leaving the weather service to pursue a career in real estate, according to a statement. She joined the department in 2003.
Rogers began his television career at Columbia. He moved to Charlotte to become a morning news meteorologist and then to Orlando in 2007.
Experience in hurricanes, tornadoes, and record cold temperatures in Florida has helped me deal with the diverse weather of upstate and mountain regions.
Rogers grew up in Jonesville. He has won five Emmy Awards.

Community management company name promotion, councilor
Community Association Management Services has announced several staff promotions and appointments. CAMS manages community associations in North Carolina and South Carolina.
CAMS Executive Vice President Ben Rhodes has been elected to the Association of Community Associations Council of Community Association Managers. His term of office will be two years.
