Wendy Williams’ family is grappling with concerns about her guardianship and legal representation after the former talk show host criticized her lawyer.
Williams was diagnosed with aphasia and frontotemporal dementia and has been under guardianship since 2023.
She argued to Williams’ guardianship attorney Roberta Kaplan, who claimed to know Diddy well, that he would need lifelong care.
“How could she have known that?” Williams told TMZ. “I have never met or spoken to Roberta Kaplan. I am isolated and locked up in a luxurious prison. So much for the Me Too movement.”
The family also thanked fans for their support and asked for privacy as they move forward with the process.
TMZ executive producer Harvey Levin said in a recent interview that he spoke with Williams for 90 minutes and found her “lucid, articulate and opinionated.”
“The Wendy Williams I talked to today is the same Wendy Williams I knew 10 years ago,” Levin said.
Mr Kaplan, who is representing Williams in a lawsuit against A&E over the documentary Where Is Wendy Williams?, defended the conservatorship.
He said the measures were introduced because Mr Williams was deemed incapable of making legal and financial decisions.
“Wendy was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, a neurological disease for which there is no cure,” Kaplan said, adding that Williams “has good days and bad days.”
