Mix protein powder and other common pantry ingredients to make this easy chocolate chip protein cookie recipe.
This is my new favorite quick dessert idea!
When you want something sweet, try making warm, single-use soft cookies. I love the simplicity of these cookies, which can be made in the microwave in 50 seconds and only require 6 ingredients. If you have a canister of protein powder in your pantry, make some easy protein cookies!
How delicious is this protein cookie recipe?
These grain-free cookies may honestly surprise you. The result is a warm treat that’s sweet, soft, and full of chocolate flavor. We guarantee they’re delicious and a little healthier than your average cookie. Yippee! In this case, protein powder turns out to be a great substitute for wheat flour.
My teenage daughter made these cookies inspired by Instagram user FitFoodieSelma. She’s even made cookie dough from protein powder and enjoys little hacks for baking snacks. Although I was skeptical at first, I finally tried this microwave cookie for myself and am so glad I did.

More tips for making this chocolate protein cookie recipe:
I added monk fruit sweetener, but you can also use honey or maple syrup if you prefer. Before putting it in the microwave, it is recommended to taste the dough a little to see if it is sweet enough. Use your favorite peanut butter or almond butter, depending on your preference. Which type of protein powder is best? Honestly, use your favorite. It can be either vanilla flavored, chocolate flavored, or unflavored like I used. We’ve tested them all and they all work. If you want an affordable proposition, this Gainful brand found on Target.com is a great choice. Be sure to place a parchment paper on the plate to prevent it from sticking.
Who can resist a simple one-minute cookie? Not me!
This is a super low-effort idea to keep in mind when you’re craving something sweet on a whim. I’m also looking forward to trying out other fun add-ins. I will admit that this cookie idea tastes better than any microwave mug cake I’ve ever tried. Sometimes it tastes very eggy.
If you try these cookies, I’d love to hear what you think.
Have you tried baking Ina Garten’s chocolate cake? It’s just the best!
