GREENWICH, Conn. — Four people, three youths and a minor, were arrested in Greenwich after they allegedly stole a luxury SUV in front of its owner, police said.
The four were arrested Thursday in suburban Westchester County, New York, with the help of Detective Greenwich from the Connecticut State Police Auto Theft Task Force, New York State Police and federal authorities, law enforcement said.
Police said the theft occurred on Jan. 3 at a Shell gas station in the 1400 block of East Putnam Avenue. Police said the owner was vacuuming the passenger side of his BMW X7 SUV when the suspects pulled up in another vehicle, one of them jumped into the driver’s seat of the SUV and drove off. According to BMW, prices for the 2025 SUV start at $84,300.
Police said the four arrested also face several other vehicle theft charges in the Greenwich and Fairfield County area, and all four were arrested in New York state before being extradited to Connecticut. He is said to have to answer to the charges. Police said the investigation into the four men is ongoing and more charges may be filed by the state of Connecticut.
