Korean luxury brand Genesis doesn’t shy away from featuring bright metal trim on its vehicles, which is why the new G80 Black is so refreshing.
Arriving in Australia in 2025, the G80 Black is the brand’s fourth vehicle to receive the blackout treatment, but the first in Australia.
Essentially all exterior trim is blacked out, including the front grille, front emblem, window and bumper trim.

The inner side bezels of the headlights are also blacked out, as is the front radar cover, and the text on the rear is darkened, but it is finished in dark gray rather than black.
It features 20-inch wheels with a gloss black finish and floating center cap.
Looking inside – yes, you guessed it – the cabin is black.
That doesn’t just mean a black dashboard and black quilted upholstery, but also buttons and switches on the dash and center console.
The speaker grille, badges, sill plates, and even the paddle shifters are all finished in black.
However, instead of gloss black inlays, Genesis uses real wood trim with a black finish.
Genesis has not confirmed the price or specifications of the G80 Black for the Australian market.
The G80 was updated earlier this year with a completely overhauled interior, with a smoother exterior and a 27-inch display.
A choice of turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder and twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 petrol engines continues to be offered.
The latest version of the Electrified G80 (the electric version of the sedan) is expected to go on sale here sometime in 2025.
Genesis sold 57 G80s in Australia in 2024, a close second behind the Audi A7 (60), but ahead of the Audi A6 (280), BMW 5 Series (614) and Mercedes-Benz E-Class ( 381 units).
