McDonald’s on Tuesday began rolling out a new value menu at its restaurants as part of an effort to boost foot traffic among budget-conscious consumers.
The MacValue menu category, part of the fast food company’s comeback strategy, offers customers a “buy one, get one for $1” option for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
The company also offers apps to drive customers to the platform, including offering free medium fries with any $1 purchase every Friday in 2025 and a free McCree Chicken Sandwich for new app users. A special sale has also started.

The company says local franchisees are also launching their own special deals on products like McGriddles and app-only offers like 20% off purchases of $10 or more.
McDonald’s has over 13,500 stores in the United States
On a third-quarter earnings call in October, executives said they were working to build a “more comprehensive U.S. value platform” starting this year to gain an advantage over competitors.
How does McDonald’s plan to bring back customers?
The quick-service sector has faced declining foot traffic in consecutive quarters as inflation-wary consumers increasingly eat at home. McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski said this trend continued in the third quarter.
Kempczinski said the company “anticipated a challenging environment in 2024,” but its results for the year were lower than expected.
He acknowledged that “the gap in leadership based on values has narrowed.” In response, Kempczinski said the company has “urgently worked with our franchisees” to improve its value proposition in most of its key markets.

The company also announced Tuesday that it is extending its $5 meal deal for a second time. This time it will last until next summer and will be part of the MacValue platform.
In October, McDonald’s Chief Financial Officer Ian Bowden said the $5 meal deal helped “bring customers back” to restaurants throughout the third quarter.
Bowden said the deal, which launched in June, “gained traction particularly among lower-income consumers, successfully increasing its traffic share for the first time in over a year.” Ta.
